Plymouth Invitational
/With the leaves just starting to fall from the trees, a morning off (for the athletes) was a great way to prepare for the Plymouth Invite. A smaller non-scary invite, this is usually one of our favorites, although the normal FREE-FOOD buffet was missing this year. Suspiciously fast since the re-route two years ago, it has since been measured to be about 30 seconds short. Sorry, your PR’s don’t count here!
But winning does count, and that’s exactly what Sophia did, blazing out from the whistle and never looking back, eventually crossing the line 58 seconds up on second place. Samantha also ran her way into the awards, placing 14th overall for a medal. Just three spots off an award, but earning the “toughest runner” prize, was Maddy. One second she was up, the next second she was down on the ground, said Kendra (paraphrasing here), who was running with her. Maddy must have executed a pretty slick roll however, as she got right back up and actually passed people coming up the hill. Kendra was next across, 25 seconds back, while Jessi ran a very solid race to place as the final scoring runner for the team. The girls picked up their first team award in two years, taking home a very NOT huge third place plaque.
